Substantive Edit
Supplemental Technical Edit
This restricted edit is designed to catch errors that would be the most obvious to the reader and the most embarrassing to the journal (originally proposed by David Nadziejka of Argonne National Laboratories [Needed: A revision of the lowest level of editing. Technical Communication, second quarter 1995:278-283.]) This edit is intended for journals with in-house copy editing facilities. Our editors will review your most technically difficult articles for internal scientific validity by checking the abstract, experimental and statistical methods, results, conclusion, and tables and figures.
We will note inconsistencies in text and graphic presentations of data, errors of omission (e.g., methods missing for stated results), errors in equations, evidence of bias, or conclusions not supported by data provided. We will not correct usage nor style, nor spelling other than that of technical terms in the sections reviewed. Manuscripts, or portions thereof, may be faxed to us. Charge: $55 per hour (average, 2 hours for original research manuscripts without equations), plus return charges if applicable.
Standard Substantive Edit
This edit covers all aspects of technical editing, copy editing, and styling for the entire manuscript. We will keep your styling guidelines on file, free of charge, and can step in, on a moment's notice, to help your staff through busy times. We can scan faxed documents and return them to you via file transfer, e-mail, or on a disk via Fed Ex. Charge: $37.50 per hour for copy editing, and $55 per hour for technical editing, plus return shipping charges if applicable.
